Dörzbach
The community of Dörzbach with its districts Hohebach, Meßbach, Laibach as well as the hamlets Eisenhutsrot, Heßlachshof and Wendischenhof is located in the heart of Jagst valley with its side valleys – a gemstone of peacefulness, barely industrial area and yet easily accessible due to its location between two big traffic routes.
River Jagst is one of the last ecologically unharmed river habitats in Baden Württemberg. Bathing in the river is an old tradition in the Jagst valley. On a hot summer day there is nothing more refreshing than a jump into the cool water. Jagst river – a clean river teeming with fish is ideal for fishing. The diverse landscape in the Jagst valley provides a lovely and idyllic impression on the visitors.
The small community kept the urban character and presents itself as a central place in central Jagst valley. The community is not only rich in tradition but also a dynamic place and attractive residential building site.
The predominantly agricultural town as well as the hamlets have an active club life. The people of Dörzbach are very sociable and never miss an opportunity to prove it by hosting their traditional festivals and celebrations. Spring Horse Fair, May Day above the chapel of St. Wendel zum Stein, the Bridge Festival in Hohebach, Schubertiade, concerts in the theatre of Dörzbach, Wine Festival, Autumn Horse Fair and Christmas Market are just a few highlights in the community of Dörzbach.
Orchards and vineyards dominate our rural landscape. The wine of Dörzbach gets its distinctive and noble character by the mineralized limestone soils. Newly created cross-terraces back assure the continuing wine production. Especially sheep and small zebucows have proven to be helpful shapers of the landscape as they eat small woody plants such as sloes, dogwood and hawthorn. Therefore the slopes in the Jagst valley are obtained in their open character.
In the community of Dörzbach you may visit the “paths of silence” where you will encounter interesting and impressive features. The whole community has a wide selection of dining establishments, some with beer gardens, which invite you to enjoy a little rest in the summer. Primarily walkers and cyclists appreciate this offer.
